Sinochem Shipping is set to break into the ranks of the top-tier, high-spec chemical tanker owners not only with an aggressively competitive approach to ship design but also by offering customers “a different feeling”, according to general manager Xu Junfeng.
The Shanghai-based outfit has two separate series of all-stainless-steel chemical tankers now rolling out of Chinese and Japanese yards, and Xu confirms there is talk of starting a third newbuilding series at an unspecified Chinese yard — but not this year (see story, below).
