Large dry bulk vessels fuelled with LNG could be ploughing the oceans just two years from now.

Project Forward — an ambitious scheme to build the world’s first truly deepsea, LNG-powered ship — has hit its stride, say its Greek initiators.

Talks with shipyards have already started to turn it into a reality as early as 2018.

“I think that within a two-year period, we’re either going to see a ‘Forward’ ship in the water or orders being placed,” Alexander P Panagopulos, president of Athens-based Arista Shipping, told TradeWinds.
