Navigator Gas is charting a slow and deliberate course away from third-party technical management.

Since 2001, the London-based owner of handysize and medium gas carriers has used outside firms, such as Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement, Stena’s Northern Marine Management and Thome Group, to handle day-to-day ship operations.

But since mid-April, Navigator’s in-house team has managed the 22,500-cbm Navigator Galaxy (built 2011), its first such operation.
