TradeWinds is hearing increasing complaints from chartering brokers who say owners are loath to pay a percentage-based fee on loss-making fixtures — and, worse still, who say many of their broking competitors are going along with owners’ pleas and working for nothing or at a discount in a market where both owner and broker should be suffering together.
In the end it will be the broker who has to make sure he gets paid.
