According to sources, the company is behind the purchase of the 176,000-dwt bulker Nord Power (built 2005) from Danish owner Norden. The latter confirms the sale of the Universal-built vessel but does not identify the buyer, nor would it comment on the price, which is expected to be around $12m.
Phoenix, which did not respond to a request for comment, is listed with a fleet of seven aframax tankers and three capesizes built in 2009 and 2010 that are trading.
