TradeWinds understands that the vessel could be linked to a sale-and-purchase (S&P) agreement under which BP agreed to sell one million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG to CNOOC over a 20-year period from 2019.

Talks are said to be at an early stage but industry sources say they would expect them to involve China’s only builder of conventional-size LNG carriers, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group).
