They are set to discuss with the newly renamed Engie during the first week of June two LNG carriers of between 174,000 cbm and 177,000 cbm, plus a pair of optional slots. Sources have suggested the company’s long-standing collaborator on LNG, Japanese owner NYK, will be a partner on the ships.

The company is expected to invite shipowners to offer in on the basis of newbuildings or existing ships at a later stage and compare these bids against the yard options before deciding whether to contract the options for Engie’s own account.
