New York-listed Golar said in a securities filing that it agreed to pay $14.5m, a portion of the amount the Qatari shipowner had been seeking for its claims in the dispute.

The fight centres on Nakilat’s January 2011 charter of the 140,000-cbm Golar Viking (built 2005), whose contract was terminated two months before its 15-month term was up and delivered into a newer, more lucrative charter.
