The winners of the grants will use the money to help fund projects focused on restoration or preservation of historic maritime assets, or teaching the public about maritime history.
“Since our nation’s very beginning, seafarers have helped build, defend and provide for our way of life in the United States, and the National Maritime Heritage Grant Program preserves and promotes that proud maritime legacy,” said Maritime Administrator Paul “Chip” Jaenichen.
