Greek purchasing of secondhand bulkers ground to a halt this week, with buyers scarce and hungry for even lower prices.
According to brokers, among the rare sales to Greeks was that of the 81,300-dwt panamax Flora Island (built 2012), thought to have been bought by the Kanellakis family’s Alpha Bulkers Shipmanagement for between $18.4m and $18.5m.
Any sale, however, remains unconfirmed and company managers were unavailable for comment.
