MSC Cruises said it will exercise options at STX France to build two new cruiseships in a deal worth EUR 1.6bn ($1.74bn).
Geneva and Naples-based MSC said the options are for two Meraviglia-Plus-class ships. Those two ships would join the existing Meraviglia-class ships that MSC already has on order with STX France.
MSC said the two newbuildings will feature increased tonnage and overall size, with 200 more cabins than the existing Meraviglia class, which has 2,250 cabins.
