Three men and a woman are to stand trial in Papua New Guinea (PNG) in April over the fatal sinking of the Rabaul Queen ferry.

The vessel's owner Peter Sharp faces charges of criminal negligence, manslaughter and sending an unworthy ship to sea after the incident in 2012 which killed 171 people, PacNews reported.

Rabaul Queen captain Anthony Tsiau, chief mate Michael Zirau and former PNG Ports Kimbe branch port manager Grace Amen will also appear in the country's national court.
