Nikos Triantafyllakis was strolling through Geneva on a summer day ten years ago, his gaze wandering over glass cases in glamorous boutiques, when an object grabbed his attention: a world time wristwatch by Swiss watchmaker Girard-Perregaux.

The watch had some special features: it divided the time into 24 zones, each for a major city of the world, and its distinctive colour combination separated day from night.
